The Portuguese government plans to invest EUR 477 million over the next four years to improve and simplify the digital services of the public administration. The investment is part of the Simplex program under the ICT Strategy 2020, according to the action plan published in the official gazette.
The strategy, drawn up by the Council for Information and Communication Technologies in Public Administration, is based on three specific axes: integration and interoperability, innovation and competitiveness, and resource sharing. These result in 12 concrete measures.
Among the measures to be implemented by 31 December 2020, are the development of cloud services and profitability of installed capacity in data centres, the creation of a secure multi-service communications network that eliminates unnecessary redundancies and interoperability between different entities of the public administration and between the public administration and companies.
